Your Visit, Step by Step
Every visit follows this outline. Your group’s visit will be personalised by our team on the day.
1. Arrival and Welcome to the Station
Your group arrives at Valley Railway Adventure at The Valley, Evesham. There is ample coach parking on site. Children are welcomed at the platform and given an introduction to the station and how it works.
2. Meet the Locomotive
Children get up close with the engine! Teachers may get to blow the whistle or wave the flag. Questions are not just welcome; they are the whole point.
3. Watch the Turntable in Action
One of the most memorable moments of the visit — watching the locomotive turn on the turntable. It is the kind of thing that simply cannot be replicated in a classroom, and the kind of moment children describe in their writing for weeks afterwards.
4. All Aboard for the Train Ride
Children board the carriages for the main event — a proper train ride with views over the Vale of Evesham. On the return loop, the train stops at Evesham Vale Station, where the second part of the day begins.
5. Picnic at Evesham Vale Station
Children enjoy their packed lunch (brought from school) at Evesham Vale Station — either in the carriages or out by the Play Fort area. There is space to sit, eat and take a breath before the afternoon activity begins.
6. Explore, Run Around and Discover
After lunch, children have time to explore — visiting the Play Fort, taking in the views from the bridge viewpoint and watching the trains pass below.
7. Return to the Main Station and Departure
The group returns to the main station, where coaches are waiting. Children leave with a genuine experience of a working railway — and usually quite a lot to say about it on the way home.

Toilets
The only toilet facilities are in the main shopping parade. A few minutes walk form the station.
Packed Lunch
Children bring their own packed lunch from school. Lunch is taken at Evesham Vale Station — either in the carriages or by the Play Fort. No catering facilities need to be arranged by the school.
Visit Days
School trips typically take place on Wednesdays during term time. For larger groups, alternative days may be possible — please enquire and we will explore availability with you.
Supporting All Learners
Weekday visits are naturally quieter than weekends, which can make them well suited to groups with sensory or additional needs.
We have Sensology bags available to borrow on the day. Each bag contains:
- Ear defenders
- A communication board
- A flag
- A whistle
- A small piece of coal in a sealed bag — so children can engage with the feel and smell of the railway in a way that suits them
If you would like to request additional pre-visit information to help you prepare your group — including details to support your school’s risk assessment — please include this in your enquiry email and we will be happy to help.
